HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg business is giving back to help local firemen through a fundraising campaign.

The "Friends of Hattiesburg Firemen Fund" grew from the Realty Executive’s "lunch and learn" event, where local firemen were asked to identify their most urgent current needs.

The group’s goal is to raise $10,000 for the fund.

The money will go toward the purchase of new equipment including breathing apparatuses and upgraded thermal imaging devices.

"We just wanted to make an effort to get funds that they could have to buy equipment that helps safeguard their lives and the lives of the people that they are serving,” said Jim Stroo, owner/broker of Realty Executives.

Tax deductible donations can be made to the fund through the Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation or one can contact Stroo at 601-408-8717.
