Hattiesburg church names royalty, grand marshal for 2017 Irish-Italian Festival

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A state representative and Hattiesburg mayoral candidate, a long-time Hub City attorney and a Southern Miss administrator will be front and center in this year's Irish-Italian Festival "Roll and Stroll."

Dist. 102 representative Toby Barker has been named Grand Marshal for the event, which will take place Saturday, March 18.

Barker is also running for mayor of Hattiesburg.

Former Hattiesburg attorney Ike Farris was named as King for the event and Queen, or Colleen, will be Adina Green, who is assistant director of Student Support Services at USM.

The "Roll and Stroll" is a highlight of the Irish-Italian Festival, which is in its 16th year.

It will take place at 10:30 a.m. along 4th Street next to the Southern Miss campus.

Other festival activities will happen throughout the day at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
