Mayor DuPree running for a fifth term

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree is officially running for a fifth term.

On Thursday, he filed his paperwork as a democrat.

In March 2016, DuPree announced his intentions to run for re-election in a letter to supporters.

"What motivated me to run is the same thing that motivated me to run the first time — I feel like there's some things that need to be accomplished here in the city," DuPree said in March 2016.

State Representative Toby Barker and Shawn O'Hara are also running-both as independents. Primary elections are May 2, and the general election is June 6.
