HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Quick action by Hattiesburg firefighters saved a historic home which caught fire Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters battled a blaze at the house at 1108 East Hardy Street just after four o'clock.
No one was home and nobody was hurt, but the fire damaged an internal wall and spread to the attic.
Stephen Mooney, battalion chief with the Hattiesburg Fire Department, said smoke and water damage was extensive.
He also said firefighters were able to get to the home in just one minute because of its close proximity to Station Number 5.
He said a cause has not been determined yet.
