2 behind bars after armed robbery in Laurel

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Two people are behind bars after an armed robbery in Laurel Sunday morning.

Christopher Luker, 26, and James Parker, 16, both face one count each of armed robbery. Parker is being charged as an adult. 

Luker and Parker made their initial appearances in Laurel Municipal Court Monday. Luker’s bond was set at $50,000 and the Parker's bond was set at $20,000.

Around 8:45 a.m., the Laurel Police Department responded to Roses Department Store in reference to an armed robbery.

According to reports, two suspects came into the store with a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Later, LPD took two suspects in to custody at an apartment on 10th Street.

    The Lumberton Board of Aldermen voted to end the suspension of the police chief and fire the city clerk during a special-called meeting Thursday night.  On Monday, WDAM reported that the Lumberton Police Department said Chief Shane Flynt had submitted his resignation and that Phillip Ducksworth was serving as the interim police chief.
