A one vehicle accident Tuesday left a woman injured and her vehicle totaled. Tuesday afternoon, units from Powers Volunteer Fire Department responded to the one vehicle wreck on Highway 84 East near Spring Road.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a silver SUV down a steep embankment next to a grouping of trees with extensive damage to its front-end and driver's side.
After leaving the roadway, the vehicle hit a large tree on the driver's side, causing the driver's side door to cave inward. According to reports, the adult female driver of the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was transported by EMServ ambulance to South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel for treatment.
One westbound lane of Highway 84 East near the accident was shut down for emergency vehicles and wrecker services.
Emergency personnel on scene included Power Volunteer Fire Department, Jones County Fire Public Information Officer Caleb Worrell and Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Fire apparatus included Powers Heavy Rescue, Engine and Brush.
