PINE BELT (WDAM) -

The TSA Pre-Check appointments at the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport began Monday morning.

The airport began taking applications and appointments for the service that allows passengers to move through its checkpoints quicker.

Officials at the airport will be offering this service throughout this whole week 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Instead of driving over an hour and a half to save time at the security checkpoint, travelers can take advantage of this opportunity locally.

Officials at the airport said that over 35 people enrolled by noon.

"So, first thing you just go online, and you register and you put your name and answer the obvious questions,” said Jason Musgrove, a frequent traveler. “I think you just answer a few questions.  It took me maybe 5 minutes.  And then you schedule your interview here, and they're taking walk-ins, I think. But you come in here and do another 5-minute interview, and you're good."

The service costs $85 and can ease the holiday travel frenzy by ensuring that one arrives at his or her destination with less stress.
