HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg's African-American Military History Museum honored veterans of the Vietnam War during a ceremony Thursday.

Fourteen veterans received certificates, pins and other items during the event, which was the second of its kind held this year at the facility.

Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree thanked the veterans and presented their certificates.

After the ceremony, attendees were invited to stay for a Christmas Open House, featuring food and Christmas carolers.

Other events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the war in Vietnam will be held at the museum through 2018.
