JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Wayne County man is behind bars and charged with sexual battery after being accused of inappropriately touching a child in Jones County.

James Alton Graham, Jr., 24, was charged with two counts of sexual battery and made his initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court Monday afternoon. Judge Billie Graham set his bond at $40,000 ($20,000 for each count).

Graham was already being held at the Jones County Adult Detention Center for two counts of burglary.

On Nov. 17, Child Protection Services contacted the Jones County Sheriff’s Department about a juvenile being inappropriately touched.

According to a JCSD press release, the boy told authorities he had been inappropriately touched more than once by Graham, and that the abuse had happened over a six-year period.

After a forensic interview, authorities discovered that Graham tricked the child into being alone with him and took advantage of a family connection to be with him.
