Laurel High School managed just 69 yards in the first half, but trails West Point High School only 10-8 at halftime Saturday night in the Class 5A Mississippi high school championship game at Davis Wade Stadium.
Tyquan Ulmer has completed just 2 of 7 passes for 38 yards, but one was a 24-yard touchdown pass to Je’vah Jones.
The Golden Tornadoes also scored a safety when West Point was forced to cover a blocked punt that had rolled into its own end zone.
The Green Wave scored on a 36-yard field goal by Jose Garcia and a 5-yard touchdown pass from Clayton Knight to Semaje Harris.
