Victim identified in Evelyn Gandy Pkwy wreck

FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) -

The person who died in a two-vehicle accident near the Evelyn Gandy Parkway Tuesday morning has been identified.

The victim is identified as Betty Jean Graham, 90 of Hattiesburg, according to Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict. 

The wreck happened near the Evelyn Gandy Parkway at Monroe Road around 8:36 a.m., according to MHP Public Information Officer Brent Barfield.

According to Barfield, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Beverly Wheat, 49 of Petal was traveling westbound on the Evelyn Gandy Parkway when she struck a 2000 Mercury driven by Graham.

Graham was attempting to make a turn onto Monroe Road from the parkway when she pulled out in front of Wheat. Wheat struck the passenger side of the vehicle.

Graham passed away from injuries sustained during the wreck, according to Benedict.
