HATTIESBURG, MS -

Southern Miss senior quarterback Nick Mullens was one of ten players honored on Senior Night at the Jackson Touchdown Club on Monday.

Mullens, who owns the all-time USM records in passing yards (11,648) and touchdown passes (85), says he was humbled just to be recognized.

"It's an honor, it really is,” Mullens said. “We've had so many great players to come through Southern Miss and to be able to put on the black and gold, work as hard as we can every single day and accomplish our accomplishments as a team. Just enjoying every day in the process has been truly a blessing."

Meanwhile, USM’s Picasso Nelson Jr. was named Conference USA's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts in the Golden Eagles 39-24 win over Louisiana Tech.

The junior defensive back led Southern Miss with a career-best nine tackles and two interceptions on Black Friday.

The honor was a first for the Mendenhall native and the first for a Golden Eagle since Daman McCullum won the award in 2014.

"Tonight I was focusing on playing each and every play the best I can,” Nelson Jr. said. “Thank God I made some plays."
