LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

An apparent argument that led to a shooting in Lamar County landed two people behind bars.

“Deputies received a call from Wesley Merit Health Center on Sunday that said a male showed up with a gunshot wound to the arm,” Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel said. “When deputies interviewed the victim they found out where the shooting happened and went to the residence and arrested a female suspect.”

Daphne Shelby, 32, was taken into custody around 6 a.m. at an apartment on Howell Road and charged with aggravated domestic violence.

Rigel said the victim, Malcolm McFarland, 42, was charged with domestic violence simple assault.

“There were visible marks on Shelby when deputies were interviewing her, so we charged him in the incident as well,” Rigel said.

The investigation is still ongoing, according to Rigel.
