HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Add "Tori Bowie Day" to the list of things Tori Bowie never imagined would be possible.
The former Golden Eagle returned to Southern Miss on Friday to be honored on the inaugural "Tori Bowie Day" in Hattiesburg.
"Back in Sandhill they actually have a sign...when you're turning inside the school it's a sign that says 'Tori Bowie lane,'" Bowie said. "To see things like this. it's like miracles. Nothing that I've ever dreamed of."
After medaling three times – bronze, silver and gold - in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Bowie has become an ambassador for Southern Miss athletics. On Friday, the University unveiled a sign outside the Marshall Track and Field Complex which commemorated Bowie's accomplishments. Bowie was also recognized at halftime of USM's 39-24 win over Louisiana Tech.
"Being back at the school it just reminds me of who I am and where I come from," Bowie said. "I think that's what today is all about."
