HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg homeless shelter served an extra special holiday lunch Thursday with the help of lots of volunteers.
Hattiesburg's Field House for the Homeless hosted a Thanksgiving feast for several dozen clients.
It featured turkey, ham and other traditional items.
Volunteers showed up bright and early to cook and stayed late to serve.
"We all have so much and there are so many people out there that don't have anything, so we just decided to come and help this year," said Crystal Rodrigue, a first-year volunteer from Petal.
"It makes me feel great, because some people don't think much of us homeless people and to see (volunteers) doing stuff like they're doing right now, it's just a great feeling," said Nicole Breazeale, a client of the shelter.
The Field House provides three meals a day, seven days a week.
