HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The spirit of Thanksgiving is now upon us, and Christian Services of Hattiesburg held its annual Community Thanksgiving meal to those less fortunate.

Several hundred people attended the gathering that has been held for over 30 years.

The group hopes to feed around 2,000 during this time and received a helping hand from the Hattiesburg Police Department.

Officers delivered meals to folks in the community who might not have otherwise had the opportunity to enjoy.
"This is an event specifically that people look forward to every year and so we look forward to meeting them and not just providing a meal but really a time for them to feel loved,” said Vanessa Henson, Christian Services community relations director.

The organization sends a special thank you to all the volunteers and donations that made Tuesday’s event possible.
