LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) - Lumberton High (11-2) won its tenth straight game on Friday, a 66-14 victory over Stringer, and advance to the 1A South State Championship for the second straight season.
The Panthers, who host Nanih Waiya on Friday night, look to advance to the State Championship in head coach Zach Jones' second year.
"The big challenge is everyone's good this time of year," Jones said. "It's not going to be a big blow-out ball game either way. It's going to be a close ball game. We just have to make sure we take care of us which is our plan every week. We'll be ready to go Friday night. Like I told the kids, there's only 24 teams practicing this week. It's an honor to be here. Our kids are hungry. We got put out last year in the South State Championship. Our kids are hungry and they want to take that next step in our program."
