JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from the Jones County Fire Council.

Two separate accidents occurred at the same location on Friday.

At 11:35 a.m., Powers, Glade and M&M Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene of the accident at the intersection of Highway 84 East and Lake Boga Homa Road.

When units arrived on scene, they found two heavily damaged vehicles - a white car with extensive damage to its front-end, and a white passenger van with extensive damage to its passenger-side. The white car was blocking one lane of Lake Boga Homa Road and the van was found off of the road in the grass.

The driver of the white van was ejected from the vehicle and sustained what was believed to be moderate injuries. The driver of the white car was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters using hydraulic power tools; he sustained minor injuries. Both were transported by two EMServ ambulances to South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel for treatment.
