HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Nearly 2,000 people are expected to celebrate an early Thanksgiving next week at Christian Services' annual holiday dinner.

It will be held Tuesday at the organization's E. 2nd Street offices and will feature, turkey, dressing and lots of other traditional items.

Staff members said they have plenty of food for the main course, but they could always use donations of extra vegetables and desserts.

"We see new faces, we see old faces, we see young and all come together," said Jim Prout, executive director of Christian Services. "All the walls fall down and people come from all different areas of the city to get together.  And it's like a big family reunion, we're able to just sit around and love on each other."

Prout said volunteers are always welcome, but he said call first to see if any help is needed next Tuesday.
