Two guardsman jailed for allegedly stealing ammo

CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) -

Two men are behind bars facing embezzlement charges for allegedly stealing ammunition from Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center.

“On Sunday Nov. 13 Forrest County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Camp Shelby in reference to two national guardsmen embezzling ammunition,” said Forrest County Chief Investigator Nick Calico. “Once on the scene, deputies met with Camp Shelby personnel and obtained copies of Camp Shelby’s reports and took two suspects into custody.”

Adam Spiers, 23, of Carriere and James Lofton, 26, of Long Beach were taken into custody Sunday and each charged with one count of embezzlement/theft of government property.

According to Calico, the ammunition was recovered and turned back over to Camp Shelby officials during the investigation.

The two are booked in the Forrest County Jail, where they are awaiting their initial appearance.
