Jasper County man facing several drug charges

JASPER COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Jasper County man was arrested on drug charges Monday. 

Around 8:00 p.m. Jasper County Sheriff's Department Deputies where conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on CR 7 in the Stringer area.

During the checkpoint deputies made contact with a vehicle driven by Donnie Wayne Williams.

After further investigation the deputies obtained consent to search the vehicle and Williams was found to be in possession of marijuana, numerous

Williams was then taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Sheriffs Department where he was charged with expired tag, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Bond will be set by Judge Marvin Jones at a later date.

    Southern Miss baseball will be missing four key contributors when the its season opens against Mississippi State on February 16. Hayden Roberts, Taylor Braley, Kirk McCarty and Dylan Burdeaux wrapped up their first minor league seasons in the fall. Roberts, a 34th round MLB draftee of the Colorado Rockies, struck out 45 batters in 21 games with the Grand Junction Rockies.
