PBS documentary features Hattiesburg museum staff, volunteers, committee members

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Some Staff, volunteers and committee members with Hattiesburg's African-American Military History Museum will be featured in an upcoming PBS documentary celebrating the 75th anniversary of the United Services Organization (USO).

The hour-long special called, "USO: For the Troops," chronicles the history of the organization, which has served soldiers at home and overseas since 1942. Part of the documentary focuses on USO's in the South during segregation.  

The museum in Hattiesburg was originally built as a USO to serve black troops training at Camp Shelby during World War Two. 

The special airs at 8 o'clock Monday night.
