BASSFIELD, MS (WDAM) -

You could sense how big Friday night’s game against Stone was for Hattiesburg High Friday.

A win for the Tigers would mean a home game in the opening round of the playoffs next week.

They set the time from the opening kickoff with an explosive touchdown return from Raheem Willis. The Tomcats seemingly didn’t know what hit them. The Tigers ended up winning 49-33.

Julian Conner connected with D’andre Humbles to make it a 14-0 game. The lead ballooned to 21-0 with a tough run from Fabian Franklin. Stone would try to make it a game in the second with a touchdown run from Terrion Avery only to see Hattiesburg respond with a touchdown run from Drexlan Allen.

Following a touchdown run from Preston Stringer, Allen scored again to make it 35-13 before the half.
