JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Jones County child witnessed his own mother being assaulted, according to the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
On Saturday deputies were dispatched to a residence on Graves Road for a disturbance call.
When deputies arrived, they spoke to the victim who said Justin Albert, 38 of Hattiesburg, showed up to their home. The victim told deputies she would not let him in and told him to leave, which he eventually did.
Around 2:00 a.m. the following morning, Albert showed up to the residence intoxicated.
The sheriff said he forced his way back into the home and began assaulting and threatening the victim.
The sheriff said the child was lying in bed and witnessed the assault. The victim said once the child fell asleep, Albert forced himself on her.
The victim reported she nor the child were allowed to leave the residence, nor could they make any phone calls. After several hours, Albert left the property and the victim was able to contact the sheriff's department, according to the sheriff.
Albert was located by Ellilsville Police and taken into custody.
Albert was charged with rape, kidnapping and burglary.
