Hattiesburg, Miss. (October 17, 2016) Forrest General's Spirit of Women will host Hometown Holidays featuring John David Williams and Master Chef contestant, Katie Dixon. The event will be held Wednesday, November 16, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at The Bottling Company, 126 Mobile Street in Hattiesburg. Bring your friends and celebrate these brilliant hometown celebrities as they concoct an array of dazzling food and décor ideas for the holidays!

 "It's so important for women to take some time to enjoy themselves and learn new things. This fun, stress-free event will feature all of the best tips and tricks for holiday cooking and decorating, and ladies will get to hear it all while sharing a delicious lunch with their friends," said Kathy Emmons, Spirit of Women coordinator.

    The University of Southern Mississippi ended Saturday’s regular-season baseball finale at Marshall University the same way it started, with a bang. The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate in both the second and ninth innings, scoring eight runs in each, as USM finished off a first-ever sweep of the Thundering Herd on its home turf with a 18-9 victory at Epling Stadium.

    A man is recovering from injuries after he claims he was beaten by officers with the Laurel Police Department. Thirty-six-year-old James Barnett indicated the incident took place on Tuesday, May 15.
