FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) -
A traffic stop in Forrest County has landed one person behind bars facing drug charges.
“Around 5 p.m. Monday, Forrest County Deputies were attempting to make a traffic stop at Highway 11 and Eastabuchie Road,” Forrest County Chief Investigator Nick Calico said. “Once they got the car stopped a passenger fled on foot and deputies were able to apprehend him.”
The vehicle stopped on Clinton Road, and the suspect fled a short distance away to a nearby street where he was taken into custody.
Calico added that deputies recovered a handgun from the suspect and narcotics in the vehicle.
George Moffett Jr., 19, of Moselle, was identified as the suspect, he was charged with possession of Methamphetamine and disorderly conduct-failure to comply with a police officer.
