Laurel, Hattiesburg police collect 272 pounds of drugs in take back events

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

On Saturday, October 22nd, both the Laurel and Hattiesburg Police Departments gave the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. 

The event was the Laurel Police Department's most successful yet with over 132 pounds of drugs collected, according to LPD. 

According to Lt. Jon Traxler, Hattiesburg police collected 140 pounds.
