HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Some hungry, community minded folks sampled great chicken wings Saturday at a local pub, for a good cause.
Dozens of people visited the Keg & Barrel for the inaugural "Wing Ding" to benefit the AIDS Services Coalition.
Five teams of specialists served up wings, hot or mild, to a panel of celebrity judges.
The AIDS Services Coalition provides housing, case management and HIV education and prevention to those living with HIV or AIDS.
"With every ticket we sell, you get a brochure about what services we provide," said Kathy Garner, executive director of the AIDS Services Coalition. "We talk about HIV most of the day as we are wandering around, but fundraising is important, because we survive on grants and we have to have local money to match those grants and if it weren't for the good people of Hattiesburg, we wouldn't be able to make our match."
Sanderson Farms also donated 800 pounds of wings for the event.
