CPSC recalling slow, rice cookers

UNDATED (WDAM) – More than 170,000 rice and slow cookers are being recalled due to fire and electric shock hazards, the CPSC said.

The recall involves 3 Squares-branded rice and slow cookers with fixed power cords.  The firm has received reports of cookers sparking when turned on -- and a cooker turning itself on.  One shock injury has also been reported.

The cookers were sold at several stores nationwide as well as online -- from December of 2015 through July of this year.
