Witness claims to have seen Laurel murder, describes on Facebook live

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

A Laurel boy who claims to have been a witness to the murder of a 17-year-old Laurel teen took to Facebook to describe the events.

Facebook user Qb Jy described the scene moments before Tamerick Drummond was killed in Laurel.

He broadcasted his story through a Facebook live stream, which lasted about 30 minutes.

Qb Jy through tears describes Tamerick playing with a paintball gun before he and Mekel exchanged words.

“Tamerick had a paintball gun tucked in his pants. He aint got no shirt on…

So him and Deshawn were standing at a stop sign. Mekel opened the door, the drivers side door and said “wassup, thug?”

Tamerik said “wassup.”

I thought they were going to fight one on one…

Tamerick walked up to him. (inaudible) pulled out the gun…

He pulled it out. (inaudible) said “Kel, don’t do it! Kel, don’t do it” she just sitting there like “Kel don’t do it”

He shot Tamerick…”

Mekel Antwon Crumbly was charged with the murder of Tamerick Drummond, and booked into the Jones County jail just after midnight.

This is Laurel's first homicide of the year, according to Laurel Police Chief Tyrone Stewart.

    Hattiesburg police need help locating an armed armed robbery suspect. Jarvis Devonte Anderson, 18, is wanted for allegedly entering South Pointe Wine and Liquor and stealing a black bag containing the store's bank deposit on Jan. 15, according to the Hattiesburg Police Department. Police said Anderson assaulted the clerk and displayed a handgun before leaving on foot in the direction of Edwards Street.
