HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg museum is issuing a call for antique car collectors and beauty pageant contestants as it prepares to celebrate a special anniversary.

Next March, the African-American Military HIstory Museum will host a car show and a first-ever "Miss USO Pageant" as part of a week-long, 75th anniversary celebration of the East 6th Street USO building.

It first opened in 1942 as a recreation center for black soldiers training at Camp Shelby and has been home to the museum since 2009.

The car show will focus on 1940's vehicles and the pageant will be a scholarship event for contestants 17-24 years of age.

It will also have a 1940's theme.

If you'd like more information about these two events, email musuem manager Latoya Norman at Lnorman@hattiesburg.org or call 601-450-1942.
