COLLINS, MS (WDAM) -

A Covington County organization raised money Saturday to help veterans in the state veterans homes.

Veterans OutReach hosted the third annual Veterans Jamboree at the Collins Civic Center.

It featured a country and bluegrass music concert in the evening.

During the day, folks shopped with dozens of vendors, bought catfish plate lunches and viewed military displays.

Event organizers hoped to raise about $30,000 during the event.

They said they have specific uses for some of that money.

"We have a request from the Veteran's Home to replace a therapy tub that we bought nine years ago and we're going to replace that tub (and the price is) $11,975 I believe, for that tub," said James Sanford, chairman of the board of directors of Veterans OutReach.

Singer Travis Clark was scheduled to perform. North Carolina Bluegrass group Mountain Faith was also scheduled to appear.
