Miss University of Southern Mississippi pageant date set

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from The University of Southern Mississippi

Six contestants will compete for the title of Miss University of Southern Mississippi in a pageant set for Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mannoni Performing Arts Center on the Hattiesburg campus. The winner advances to the Miss Mississippi Pageant, to be held next summer.

General admission is $7; students with identification will be admitted for $5. Miss University of Southern Mississippi 2016 Macy Mitchell will perform at the event, along with Spirit of Southern. Former Miss Mississippi Chalie Ray and WDAM-TV’s Mike McDaniel will serve as co-hosts.

Miss University of Southern Mississippi Pageant contestants include:

*Kaelyn Wolfe, a senior communications major with a minor in Spanish from Picayune, Miss.

*Brooke Bullock, a sophomore broadcast journalism major with a minor in political science from Petal, Miss.

*Ashley Clarke, a junior public health and administration major with a minor in biology from Mobile, Ala.

*Caitlin Olson, a senior merchandising major with a psychology minor from Gulfport, Miss.

*Breanna Magee, a senior political science and legal studies major from Pearl, Miss.

*Erin Broadus, a freshman communications major with a minor in business from Hurley, Miss.

    The Hattiesburg Police Department will be hosting an active shooter seminar and training session in late November.  The program will take place on Nov. 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Police & Fire Training Academy at 53 Academy Drive in Hattiesburg.  The one-day course is designed to present proactive survival strategies for violent intruder or active shooter incidents.
