HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at the University of Southern Mississippi will work with the international police organization INTERPOL to improve safety and security at major sporting events around the world.
Tuesday, USM announced it had signed a cooperation agreement with that organization to provide research and training.
The agreement includes work to support INTERPOL's Project Stadia, which will help member countries plan and implement security and cybersecurity measures for large sporting events.
"I think between our academic program, our research, the best practices we deliver every year, we'll be a very valuable partner for INTERPOL, and making the world safer," said Lou Marciani, director of NCS4.
NCS4 was created in 2006.
