HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Throughout the preseason Allenzae Staggers showed that he belonged on The University of Southern Mississippi practice field.

He flashed quickness and the ability to do whatever it takes to make a play, whether with intermediate routes or the deep ball.

Six games into the regular season, Staggers is proving he deserves to be mentioned among the nation's best wide receivers.

One cannot deny the numbers that the East Mississippi Community College transfer has put up.

Staggers ranks 16th in the nation in receiving yards with 562 yards along with 23 receptions and five touchdowns, good for a tie for 22nd in the nation. With this, the national love is starting to come.

Staggers was added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list Tuesday.

He joins USM teammate D.J. Thompson on the list (70 players).

The award is given to the best pass catcher in the college game.

Players can be added to the list throughout the season based off performance.

USM dropped to 4-2 (2-1 in Conference-USA) overall on the year after a 55-32 loss last week at Texas-San Antonio.

The Golden Eagles travel to Baton Rouge for a Saturday night (6:30 p.m. CT) game against LSU.
