HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Retrial begins Tuesday for a Hattiesburg man indicted for capital murder.

Daylon Waldrop is accused in the August 2013 shooting death of Robert Williams Jr. on 7th Street in a Hattiesburg home.

Williams Jr. died from a gunshot wound, and he was transported by AAA to Forrest General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The jury in Waldrop's first trial in 2015 could not agree on a verdict. Just shy of 3 hours of deliberation and multiple notes exchanged with Judge Helfrich the jury returned to the courtroom. The jury was deadlocked and Judge Helfrich declared a mistrial.
