GULFPORT, MS -

A Purvis man was struck and injured in an accident on the last night of Cruisin' The Coast.

According to our sister station WLOX, 61-year-old Warren Hammett of Leland was driving eastbound on Highway 90 when he attempted a "burnout" in his 2010 Cadillac CTS-V around 10:30 p.m. Hammett lost control of his car, and plowed into a crowd of bystanders.

According to Sergeant Damien McDaniel, Gulfport Police Department's Public Information Officer, Joseph Daniel Little, 27, was sitting on the tailgate of a pickup truck when he was hit by Hammet's car.

WLOX reported that four others were taken to Garden Park Medical Center and treated for minor to moderate injuries.

Hammett, who had minor injuries, was given a citation for reckless driving.

Little is in the hospital, and his injuries are unknown at this time.
