LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Lamar County man is dead and a woman is behind bars in connection to an early morning homicide.

"We think it happened around 1 this morning and it appears to be the result of a domestic altercation," said Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel.

Lamar County Deputies were called to the scene in the 100 block of Magnolia Drive at the Shenandoah apartments after being notified by Marion County authorities that a female suspect turned herself in to them around 11 a.m., according to Sheriff Rigel.

"We were notified around 11 this morning that a black female turned herself into the Marion County Sheriff's Department," Rigel said. "They notified us, and we went to the residence and found the deceased male victim."

Andrea Miller, 41, was transported to the Lamar County Jail for questioning, according to Rigel.

Rigel added they called the Hattiesburg Police Department to process the crime scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

Miller will be charged with the murder of Thomas "Tommy" Miller, 44, according to Rigel. She is booked into the Lamar County Jail until her initial appearance.

Lamar County Coroner Cody Creel said the body will be sent to Jackson for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
