PINE BELT (WDAM) -

One Pine Belt county is currently under a burn ban.

The burn ban for Wayne County was issued on Thursday.

What does a burn ban mean?

A burn ban means no outdoor burning of any kind.

Campfires, bonfires, fire pits, fire rings, burn barrels, debris burning, field burning, are all prohibited.

Charcoal grills are allowed under burn bans. However, the coals and embers generated by a charcoal grill are of great concern.

Before removing or dumping the ashes of your charcoal grill, we ask that everyone please completely extinguish any hot embers with water. The ashes should be cold to the touch before disposal.
