HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg Police arrested three juveniles that are believed to be involved in multiple auto burglaries in the Hub City.

“Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, Hattiesburg Police officers spotted a vehicle parked at 1300 Country Club Road, Vernon Dahmer Park, after hours,” Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler said.

According to Traxler, the officers asked the juveniles in the vehicle why they were there.

“During their investigation, the officer located several handguns inside the vehicle as well as illegal drugs at which time three subjects were taken into custody,” Traxler said.

Traxler added that the juveniles were taken to the police department as part of the investigation.

“It was learned that one of the handguns had been reported stolen to the University of Southern Mississippi two days before from an auto burglary,” Traxler said. “The investigation showed that the three juveniles had committed other auto burglaries as well.”

The juveniles are facing multiple charges, including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1500 feet of a park while being in possession of a weapon, auto burglary, possession of a handgun by a minor and one of the three was charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

The investigation is still ongoing, and if anyone has any information they are asked to call the Hattiesburg Police Department of Metro Crime Stoppers at 601-582-STOP.
