Forrest County Extension Service Office offering pesticide applicator training course

(The following is a press release submitted to WDAM7.)

On Monday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m.  a pesticide applicator training will take place at the Forrest County Extension Service Office, 952 Sullivan Drive, in Hattiesburg. Pesticide applicator certification is a legal requirement for anyone using restricted-use pesticides and for individuals who apply general use pesticides in commercial situations and are required to be licensed in both state and federal regulations. The training fee is $10 (checks and money orders only). Please call 601-545-6083 to reserve your seat.

    An Ovett man was seriously injured after an accident occurred involving a piece of machinery on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Jones County Fire Council, the Ovett Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to an incident at a home on Gavin Mills Road where a man had sustained severe injuries from an auger.     Firefighters battled a large blaze after a Laurel apartment building caught fire on Tuesday evening. According to Jones County Fire Rescue, multiple departments responded to a fire at the Laurel North Apartments.  Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, but not before four apartments in one building were destroyed.
