Disturbance at Jones Co. convenience store leads to arrest

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - This is a news release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

On September 23, 2016, Deputes were dispatched to a convenient store Eastabuchie in reference to a person threatening other customers.

When the deputy arrived on the scene, he found Troy Reid, 29 of Moselle. Reid's speech was mostly incoherent, saying he was fighting aliens, and at one point advised the deputy he needed to kill him because he (the deputy) had tubes coming out of his neck.

While looking for Reid's identification the deputy found approximately 19 hits of suspected LSD in Reid's wallet. When asked if he had anymore drugs in his vehicle, Reid replied,  "yes", he did because he was conducting an experiment. A small amount of Methamphetamine was also found in his vehicle. Reid was taken  into custody and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Reid has been under investigation for the last couple months by the Jones County Sheriff's Narcotics Division in reference to illegal drug activity in South Jones County.

Judge Howell Beech set Reid's bond at $30,000.
