MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Chief Deputy with the Marion County Sheriff's Department has resigned.
Chief Deputy Jeff Broom, who was been in law enforcement for 17 years turned in his resignation Friday, according to Marion County Sheriff Berkley Hall.
"Regarding Broom, it's a personnel matter that can't be discussed," Hall said. "Investigators with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations were called in to investigate the matter we deemed as a questionable."
According to Hall, the incident occurred three weeks ago, but he could not provide any other details citing the internal personnel issue.
Hall said he accepted Broom's resignation.
