FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) -

Music lovers and conservationists will gather this weekend in Forrest County for an annual event celebrating life along the Pascagoula River System.

The third annual Piney Woods Picnic will feature 14 music acts and will help raise funds for groups like the Land Trust of the Mississippi Coastal Plains.

But this year, the event is moving to the Elks Dixie Music Park.

It will be held Friday through Sunday.

"It's about Hattiesburg or the Piney Woods and the Pascagoula River System and that whole river system from Meridian and the Chunky River down to Pascagoula has a unique musical history to it and we're promoting that," said Tom White, event organizer.

Attendees can camp out at the event or purchase day tickets.
