HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

For the past four seasons, the University of Southern Mississippi has played at least one football team from the Southeastern Conference.

According to FBSchedules.com, that streak will continue through at least 2020.

The website reported Wednesday that USM had signed a contract with the University of Alabama to travel to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sept. 21, 2019.

USM will receive a $1.85 million guarantee for the trip.

The game will be the 44th in a series dating back to 1947. Alabama leads the series 35-6-2, including a a 52-12 victory in the last teams’ last meeting in 2014.

USM last defeated the Crimson Tide 21-0 in 2000.

The addition of Alabama means the Golden Eagles will have played or are scheduled to play at least one team from the SEC every season over eight, consecutive years.

Since 2013, USM has played the University of Arkansas (2013), Mississippi State University and Alabama (2014), Mississippi State (2015) and University of Kentucky (2016).

The Golden Eagles will play at Louisiana State University on Oct. 15, and have games scheduled with Kentucky (Sept. 2) and University of Tennessee (Nov. 4) in 2017, Auburn University (Sept. 29) in 2018, Alabama (Sept. 21) in 2019 and Auburn (Sept. 26) in 2020.

FBSchedules.com also had USM adding two other opponents to future schedules.

Jackson State University will visit Hattiesburg on Sept. 1, 2018, rounding out the Golden Eagles’ 2018 non-conference schedule. USM will also host the University of Louisiana-Monroe (Sept. 8) before visiting Appalachian State University (Sept. 15) and Auburn (Sept. 29).

Alcorn State University will come to Roberts Stadium on Aug. 31, 2019, leaving the Golden Eagles looking for another home game to wrap up that season’s non-conference schedule. USM has two away dates slotted with Troy University (Sept. 7) and Alabama (Sept. 21).

According to FBSchedules.com, USM will pay JSU a $300,000 guarantee and ASU a $325,000 guarantee.

USM is 2-0 against both of the Southwestern Athletic Conference teams.

USM has filled its non-conference schedule for 2017, hosting Kentucky (Sept. 2) and Southern University (Sept. 8) before visiting Louisiana-Monroe (Sept. 16) and Tennessee (Nov. 4).
