BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A woman found some treasures in her house following the August flood.

While cleaning up after the flooding, Barbara Jackson found some interesting items in her Mayfair home just off Staring Lane.

Besides a rusty sword, there was a bank from Washington D.C. that had slots for different coins. There was also a child's bank full of coins and an old Times-Picayune newspaper from 1938 that had a printed Ripley's Believe It or Not.

"The more you got into it, the more you found. You know, like the stamps," Jackson said. "And then with the purse, I just kinda thought the purse was funny, cause it's a funny-looking purse. I decided to look inside and that's when I found the little case with the watch inside. So it's kind of like being on a treasure hunt inside of your own house."

In the 1938 newspaper, LSU player Jabbo Stell is in Ripley's Believe It or Not for gaining weight during a football game.
