Police investigating aggravated assault in east Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg Police are investigating an assault that sent two people to the hospital.  

Details are incomplete, but police officials said it happened Thursday night on the 1500 block of James Street. 

They said one person received a gunshot wound to the leg during a fight. 

They said the suspect was also assaulted, but no details were given about how that person was hurt.   

Both people were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
