HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A suspect has been arrested in the Hattiesburg murder of Ann Georgian, who was killed on Sept. 3.

According to Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler, Gus Georgian was arrested in connection to Georgian's murder.

According to an earlier interview by WDAM, Gus was identified as the brother of the victim.

On Sept. 3, a woman's body was found in a wooded area off Xavier Street, behind the Hattiesburg Public Schools Administrative Offices around 10:45 a.m.
On Sept. 6, police arrived to the 300 block of Mamie Street after family members advised they had not seen her in several days and requested a welfare check, according to Hattiesburg Public Information Officer Lt. Jon Traxler.

The body found on Sept. 3 was identified as Ann Georgian.

Georgian worked for the Hattiesburg Public School district for several years and was a former assistant principal at Hattiesburg High School.

She taught German and English at Hattiesburg High in 1984, and retired in 2002, according to Jimmy Hopkins with HPSD.

More information in the case will be released Wednesday morning, according to Hattiesburg police.
