JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A 19-year-old woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident in Jones County Tuesday morning.
At 8 a.m. Moselle Union and Ovett Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene where they found the teen's car collided with a tree.
According to The Jones County Fire Council, the car was smoking and the woman was trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters confirmed that the car was not smoking, and no fire was found. They immediately began extrication of the victim.
After the teen was freed from the vehicle, she was transported by EMServ ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries, according to the news release issued by JCFC.
The road was partially shut down during rescue and clean up operations. The cause of the accident is unknown.
Rescue personnel on scene included Moselle, Union and Ovett Volunteer Fire Departments, EMServ Ambulance Service, Jones County Sheriff's Department and Jones County Fire Pubic Information Officer Caleb Worrell.
Fire apparatus included Moselle Engine and Rescue and Ovett Rescue. Firefighters also responded in their personal vehicles.
