HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The following is a news release from The University of Southern Mississippi

The College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi is sponsoring an “Experience Business Casually” event designed to help students develop the traits and etiquette necessary for a successful career in business. The event is set for 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8 in the lobby of Scianna Hall.

“By perfecting these characteristics now, students will be more effective in their job search efforts and in transitioning from college to career,” said Amy Yeend, assistant director of Career Services in the College of Business. “By producing knowledgeable, professional graduates, the University will continue to be targeted by top employers looking to hire new college graduates.”

This marks the third annual “Experience Business Casually” event and Yeend notes that each year the program has grown in popularity among students, faculty, and the professional community.

“It is an important event for us because it allows us to supplement what the students are learning in the classroom as well as make connections between students and employers,” said Yeend. “It is also a great way to strengthen relationships between the college and our stakeholders, including alumni, our Business Advisory Council, and both local and national employers.”

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
